Minnesota Cable Group Urges Mediacom-Sinclair Action1/18/2007 9:29 AM Eastern
The Minnesota Cable Communications Association Thursday urged the state’s congressional delegation to press for binding arbitration to resolve Mediacom Communications’ retransmission-consent dispute with Sinclair Broadcast Group.
The trade group alleged that cable customers in small rural markets will face an increase in their cable bills if Mediacom can’t come to a reasonable agreement with Sinclair.
“No television viewer should be subjected to any form of discriminatory pricing practices, but that’s where we’re heading,” MCCA executive director Michael Martin said in a letter to the delegation.
Sinclair owns WUCW in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn. Sinclair pulled 22 of its TV stations from Mediacom Jan. 6.
