Nat Geo Creates Halloween Initiative

National Geographic Channel
will look to scare up funds for its Big
Cats Initiative by encouraging trick or
treaters to collect change along with
candy during Halloween.

The “Cause an Uproar” promotion
looks to generate awareness and funds
for Nat Geo’s effort to stop the decline of
big cats in the wild by encouraging kids
to dress up as felines and collect coins
during the Halloween season. Parents,
teachers and kids visiting website
CauseAnUproar.org can find creative
resources to develop original costumes,
masks and face painting designs, network
officials said.

In addition, Nat Geo is providing
collection boxes through Pottery Barn
Kids stores and participating schools
to aid in the collection of money, which
will fund research, education and realworld
solutions to help stem and eventually
reverse the rapid disappearance
of big cat populations.

Participants in the program are eligible
to receive gifts including magazine
subscriptions, apparel and digital
downloads, the network said.

In other Nat Geo marketing news, to
kick off its fourth “Expedition Week,”
the channel is offering affiliates incentives
and adventure prizes for their local
ad sales teams.

To qualify for prizes, affiliates must
sell local in-program avails and/or
cross-channel schedules to advertisers
for a minimum of 250 taggable tune-in
spots running up to the Nov. 7 premiere
of “Expedition Week,” which features
content that takes viewers to never-before-
seen places.
