Univision Stays Hot in 18-34

Univision, which rang up record viewership during the 2004-05 TV season, remains muy caliente this summer, topping all networks in reaching adults 18-34 two weeks ago.

The Spanish-language giant averaged 1.18 million of those viewers June 27-July 3, according to Nielsen Television Index data. Univision topped second-place Fox’s average delivery of 1.07 million 18-34 watchers during the span.

MTV: Music Television, which headed cable with this group, averaged 514,000 with the demo, while Turner Network Television’s 450,000 was good for 10th, according to the Nielsen data.

Rated against that demo, Univision programs claimed the third through ninth spots for the week, which was led by ABC’s Dancing with the Stars installment.

Univision was up 26% against the demo last week, while the “Big Four” networks -- ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox -- were collectively off 16%.

Factoring in The WB Television Network and UPN, the six networks were down 13%, according to a Univision analysis of Nielsen data. Only ABC, up 17% to 950,000, and The WB, ahead 14%, registered growth among the six networks against the18-34 set for the week.
