Kaitz Dinner To Honor Sony Pictures, League Of United Latin American CitizensDauman, Smit Named Co-Chairs Of 30th Annual Fundraising Dinner 8/07/2013 12:20 PM Eastern
The Walter Kaitz Foundation will honor Sony Pictures Entertainment and the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) during its 30th Annual Walter Kaitz Foundation Fundraising Dinner Oct. 9 in New York City, the diversity organization said Wednesday.
Sony Pictures will receive the organization’s 2013 Diversity Champion Award, given to individuals or organizations that act as catalysts for diversity within their respective organizations or throughout the cable industry, while LULAC will be honored with the Diversity Advocate award, presented annually to an individual or organization outside of the cable industry that has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to diversity.
The Kaitz Foundation also said Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman and Comcast Cable CEO Neil Smit, will serve as dinner co-chairs. Time Warner Cable chairman & CEO Glenn Britt; Radio One and TV One CEO Alfred Liggins III; A+E Networks chairman Abbe Raven (recently named the Women in Cable Telecommunications Woman of the Year); Charter Communications CEO Thomas M. Rutledge; and Arris Chairman & CEO Robert Stanzione will also serve on the dinner’s executive committee, according to Kaitz.
NUVOtv personality Mario Lopez (Mario Lopez: One on One) will host the annual dinner, which in celebration of its 30th anniversary, will recognize individuals and organizations whose lives and personal stories have been touched by the foundation’s work over the years. The dinner is the principal fundraising mechanism for the foundation, which is overseen by the National Cable & Telecommunications Association. Programs funded by Kaitz include activities of the National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications, the Emma L. Bowen Foundation and WICT.
The dinner, at New York's Marriott Marquis Hotel, takes place during Cable's Diversity Week, which also includes the WICT Leadership Conference and the 27th annual NAMIC Conference.
