‘Mad Men’ Finale Draws 3.3 Million Viewers

AMC’s Mad Men ended its eight-year run Sunday with a final episode that drew 3.3 million viewers.

The Emmy-Award series drew its third biggest audience ever with its May 17 finale, which also drew 1.4 million adults 18-49, according to Nielsen.

The finale ranked among the top 20 most watched shows for the week of May 11 to May 17, according to Nielsen. Overall TNT finished as the most watched network during the period, averaging 2.78 million viewers. ESPN was second with 2.15 million viewers, followed by USA Network with 1.73 million watchers and Disney Channel with 1.63 million viewers.

Fox News (1.54 million viewers), TBS (1.48 million); HGTV (1.31 million), History (1.20 million) and Discovery Channel (1.10 million) rounded out the top 10.

Disney Channel barely beat out TNT for the top spot among cable networks on a 24-hour basis, averaging 1.11 million compared to 1.10 million for the drama network. USA, Nickelodeon, and Adult Swim finished closely behind.

TNT was the top choice among adults 18-49 in primetime, while Adult Swim was the most watched on a 24-hour basis among the demo.
