RFD-TV Connects with The Weather Channel

Rural lifestyle network RFD-TV has teamed with The Weather Channel under a partnership that delivers weather forecasts to U.S. farmers and ranchers.

That daily offering, called the RFD-TV/The Weather Channel Farm & Ranch Forecast, premiered Monday (January 18). The segment airs on RFD-TV’s Market Day Report, as well as on the nightly broadcasts of Rural Evening News on both coasts, and throughout the channel’s prime time programming. The updates will also air on Rural Radio (SiriusXM channel 147), and be available through digital means including the Country Club on rfdtv.com and on mobile devices through RFD-TV's new app.

“It’s hard to find a community that relies more heavily on weather and accurate forecasts than ranchers and farmers,” said Dave Shull, CEO of The Weather Channel Television Network, in a statement. “For more than 30 years, The Weather Channel has been a trusted source, and this partnership allows us to directly provide the best weather services to the people who use them to make important decisions.”

The ability to have access to timely weather news and forecasts from an agricultural perspective will be an essential ingredient in this effort,” added Rural Media Group founder and president Patrick Gottsch. “RFD-TV and The Weather Channel recognize the importance of providing such information, and realize that we are in a unique position to produce and deliver this service for the benefit of the American farmer, while educating urban viewers on the challenges being faced by those involved with their food and fiber production."

Rural Media Group’s distribution partners include Dish Network, DirecTV, Comcast, Verizon FiOS TV, AT&T U-Verse, Mediacom Communications,  Charter Communications, Cablevision systems, Bright House Networks,  Suddenlink Communications, Time Warner Cable and Cox Communications, among others.
