American Education Television Network, the education-focused programmer, has been acquired by MindRocket Media Group, a Nashville-based public relations and strategic consulting firm focused on education issues, MRMG said in a press release.

American ED TV co-founders Jack Ford, the former Court TV anchor and longtime legal analyst for CBS News, and Fred Cambria, the Emmy-winning producer, will work closely with MRMG on education-focused programming for over-the-air, digital and on-demand distribution, starting with a 60-minute news program, The Jack Ford Report, MRMG said. Co-founder Matt Cacciato, a former distribution executive at YES Network and the third co-founder, has become a full-time lecturer/instructor at Ohio University.

American ED TV, created in 2010 with aspirations of becoming a full-time cable network, has produced free on-demand content carried by Verizon Fios, a rural-education series for RFD-TV and other education-focused news and entertainment programming. It also produced The Lost Trophy, a documentary about Syracuse University's 1990 lacrosse team that aired on ESPN and ESPN2.

MMRG is headed by Dr. Rod Berger as president and CEO. In the release he described American ED TV as "the essential next step for the MindRocket team as we increase our investment in visual media and open up new lanes of content distribution through broadcast syndication and over-the-top networks.”
