Comcast Launches Hispanic Free-VOD Promo

Comcast next week will launch Xfinity Freeview Latino, a two-week all-access pass offering more than 1,000 free hours of Latino programming to its Xfinity TV digital customers.

Thhe content on offer will range from movies and sports to kids’ programming and telenovelas.

The “freeview,” timed to coincide with Hispanic Heritage Month, rins from Sept. 23 to Oct. 6 and will be available to all Xfinity TV customers via Xfinity On Demand, website Xfinity.com/Latino and on the Xfinity TV Player app.

Comcast doesn’t disclose specific Latino subscribership numbers, but VP and general manager for multicultural video services Ruben Mendiola sad that VOD viewership among Xfinity Latino customers was up 50% after the launch pof launch of the Xfinity Latino Entertainment channel late last year.

Comcast, which said its VOD platform is getting about 400 million “views” per month, said the promo gives Latino viewrers a total of more tnan 2,500 programs, including mun2 reality series Larrymania, Telemundo telenovela La Reina del Sur; Bravo reality series The Real Housewives of Miami; movie premieres such as Colosio: el asesinato; and telenovelas La Tempestad and Santa Diabla, amomg other programs.
