DTV Architect Chessen Leaving FCC11/21/2005 5:37 AM Eastern
Digital-TV-transition architect Rich Chessen is leaving the Federal Communications Commission to join Ken Ferree’s budding communications practice at the firm Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP.
Chessen was chairman of the FCC DTV Task Force when Ferree was chief of the FCC Media Bureau. The two created the plan ending analog-TV broadcasting Dec. 31, 2008, which is close to becoming a reality on Capitol Hill.
Chessen, at the FCC for more than one decade, starts his new position Nov. 28.
"Rick's depth and breadth of experience at the FCC is a perfect fit for our growing communications practice," Sheppard, Mullin managing partner Guy Halgren said in a prepared statement.
