USA Tops Weekly Ratings Race6/23/2010 4:23 PM Eastern
USA Network continues its torrid summer ratings pace, winning for the third consecutive week on the strength of its summer original fare.
Paced by its Thursday night series lineup of Burn Notice and Royal Pains, the "Character's Welcome" network averaged 3.3 million viewers to top all basic cable networks in prime time during the week of June 14 to June 20. Disney Channel finished second with 2.8 million viewers, while TNT finished third in the race with 2.1 million viewers.
Fox News continued to dominate the cable news category by finishing fourth overall for the week with 1.9 million viewers, while History rode the ratings success of its Pawn Stars reality show to a fifth place tie with Nick At Nite, with both network averaging 1.5 million viewers, according to a Disney-ABC Television Group analysis of Nielsen data.
TBS (1.3 million viewers); Discovery Channel, A&E and ESPN (all tied with 1.2 million viewers) rounded out the top 10 performances for the week.
History's Pawn Stars drew the most viewers during the week, but ESPN's June 18 early morning coverage of the United States/Slovenia World Cup soccer game averaged a solid 4.6 million viewers to finish among the top 10 most watched shows of the week and as the most viewed show among young viewers 18 to 34 years of age, according to Turner Research.
