Sling TV Debuts on New Amazon Fire Tablets

Sling TV, Dish Network’s OTT TV service for cord-cutters, has unleashed an updated app that extends access to current versions of the Amazon Fire HD and HDX tablets.

That expansion complements Sling TV’s support of the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick,  Web browsers, iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, the Xbox One, Roku players and Roku TVs, and the Android TV-powered Nexus p layer.

Sling TV said that, for a limited time, it s offering  14-day free trial of the service to new Sling TV subs with an Amazon Fire HDX 8.9, Fire HDX 7, Fire HD 7 or Fire HD 6 tablet.

“Amazon customers now have more ways to access the best live and on-demand content TV has to offer today,” Roger Lynch, CEO of Sling TV, said in a statement “With the introduction of Sling TV on Amazon Fire HD and HDX tablets, millions of Amazon customers can now access their entertainment in and outside of the home.”

“Since launching on Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, Sling TV has been extremely popular with our customers and availability on Fire HD and HDX tablets makes it even more convenient for them to watch their favorite live television shows without a cable subscription,” added Steve Rabuchin, VP, Amazon Appstore.

Sling TV’s core package sells for $20 per month. It also offers several $5 per month add-on packs as well as HBO, which sells for $15 per month.
