The 2009 NCTA Vanguard Awards

The Vanguard Awards are the most prestigious honors presented by the National Cable & Telecommunications Association. Inaugurated in 1965, they are presented annually to individuals who display exceptional leadership in the cable industry, as well as a strong commitment to their colleagues.

Award winners are nominated by NCTA members and selected by an Awards Committee composed of members from the NCTA Board of Directors and former award winners.

This year’s nine honorees, who are profiled in this special section, will be feted at Cable Show ’09 at a reception held at the Washington Convention Center on Friday, April 3, at 3:00 p.m.

This year’s Vanguard awards will be presented by BET Networks chairman and CEO Debra Lee. Turner Broadcasting System chairman and CEO Phil Kent served as chairman of this year’s Vanguard Awards Committee.
