Charter Nabs Ex-Cablevision, TWC Ops Execs

Charter Communications has recruited yet another former Cablevision Systems executive, tapping Kathleen "Kip" Mayo as executive vice president of customer operations, and hired Time Warner Cable vet Tom Adams to head field operations.

Mayo, a 15-year veteran of Cablevision who left in March, will be in charge of Charter's customer care organization. Adams, as the St. Louis-based MSO’s executive VP of field operations, will have oversight of national field operations.

In December 2011, Charter hired Tom Rutledge shortly after he resigned as chief operating officer of Bethpage, N.Y.-based Cablevision. Subsequently, Charter has hired several other Cablevision executives, including president of cable communications John Bickham, now Charter’s COO, and marketing executive VP Jonathan Hargis, who now heads Charter's marketing.

Both Adams and Mayo will report to Bickham. Mayo joined Charter effective Sept. 17 and Adams will join on Oct. 1.

Adams previously spent 17 years at TWC, most recently serving as regional vice president of operations for Wisconsin. Prior to TWC, he worked for cable operator NewChannels Corp. in various leadership roles, including vice president of new business.

"With more than 30 years experience in all aspects of the cable industry, Tom's insightful leadership will be critical in achieving our Company goals," Bickham said in announcing his hire.

Mayo -- member of Multichannel News' 2010 Wonder Women class -- previously was executive vice president of consumer operations for Cablevision, with responsibility for field operations, customer service, and billing and collections.

"Kip's dedication to providing great customer service and her experience in leading all aspects of cable operations will complement the skills and experience of her colleagues on our Customer Care and Operations teams," Bickham said.
