Everest to Serve N.Y., Chicago Buildings

Fort Lee, N.J.-Everest Broadband Networks will offer high-speed Internet access, broadband applications and long-distance phone services to 67 office buildings in New York and Chicago under contracts signed last week with Vornado Realty Trust and FiberNet Telecom Group Inc.

Under the Vornado agreement, Everest will service 62 buildings in the Chicago market, including the legendary Merchandise Mart, as well as several major office buildings in New York that will include 1 Penn Plaza and 90 Park Avenue.

Its contract with FiberNet covers New York office buildings served by FiberNet's Metropolitan Transport Network and its In-Building Networks. The contract calls for Everest to offer immediate service at five FiberNet locations, including the Chrysler Center.

"From our perspective, the properties covered under the two deals are a near-perfect fit, since we specialize in serving large buildings with significant numbers of small to midsized tenants," Everest CEO Jeffrey Feldman said.

Everest also offers services to residential buildings and hotels. Its services include e-mail, tools to build Web sites, site hosting services, electronic-commerce software and virtual private networks.
