Popkowski: MTVN Exit for Family Reasons

Former MTV Networks president of U.S. ad sales John Popkowski denied Friday
that his exit from the company in 2000 was prompted in any way by differences
over strategy or increased Viacom Inc. scrutiny of MTVN's ad-sales
department.

He restated his initial explanation for his exit, which was that he wanted to
spend more time with his family.

'I left for the reasons I said,' Popkowski said.

He added that he maintains a good relationship with Viacom president Mel
Karmazin and he continues to consult for MTVN.
