Top Cable CFOs at BCFM

The Broadcast Cable Financial Management Association, with its Broadcast Cable Credit Association subsidiary, will hold its 44th annual convention here from May 16 to 18, including presentations from Comcast Corp. co-chief financial officers John Alchin and Lawrence Smith and Cox Communications Inc. CFO Jimmy Hayes.

Alchin and Smith will receive BCFM's "CFO of the Year" award, for their work in Comcast's rapid integration of AT&T Broadband.

The general session on May 11th will take a look at the radio, television and cable industries from three perspectives, and will feature TV One Inc. president and CEO Johnathan Rodgers, Securities and Exchange Commission commissioner Roel Campos and Deutsche Bank Securities analyst Drew Marcus.

Emmis Communications CEO Jeff Smulyan; Regent Communications CEO Terry Jacobs and Raycom Media CEO Paul McTear will participate in the May 18 general-session panel discussing the state of the radio, television and cable industries.

Scientific-Atlanta Inc. CFO Bob McIntyre will head a technology general session on May 18.

Hayes will serve on a panel entitled "CFOs in the Fast Lane," joined by CFOs from the Washington Post Co. and Radio One Inc.

Several other finance executives from the cable industry will conduct panel and breakout sessions, including former Yankees Entertainment & Sports Network CEO Leo J. Hindery, Jr. and Turner Broadcasting System Inc. president of domestic distribution Andy Heller.

They'll discuss the pros and cons of a la carte programming packages.
