Eric Cooney Named CEO of Snell Advanced Media

Eric Cooney has been named president and CEO of Snell Advanced Media (SAM), a provider of integrated media production products and services.

He succeeds Tim Thorsteinson, who is stepping down after two years in role for “personal reasons” that, in the near-to-medium term limited his ability to travel, said the company, which is backed by LDC, the private equity arm of Lloyds Banking Group.

Cooney previously was CEO of Tandberg Television, which merged with Ericsson in 2007 following a bidding war that involved Arris, and later became CEO of Internap Corp.

At SAM, Cooney will head up growth and development of the group across its core markets and build on sales growth, said the company, which is headquartered in Newbury, Berkshire in the U.K., and has almost 600 employees.

“Having demonstrated the ability to adapt and evolve both organically and through M&A activity, this is an exciting time to be joining the group as we look to explore new ways to further drive market share and profitable growth within the media production industry,” Cooney said, in a statement.
