Travel Channel Names Madden to Marketing Post

Travel Channel said it has named Robert Madden senior vice president, marketing, creative, communications and brand strategy.

 In this position, Madden will be responsible for the direct management of the consumer marketing, creative services and communications departments. He will oversee all phases of brand strategy and development, network positioning and communications, as well as all on-air and off-air marketing initiatives for Travel Channel. Madden will be based in the network’s Chevy Chase headquarters, Madden officially joins the leadership team on Dec. 1 and will report to Travel Channel president Shannon O’Neill.

“Bob is a unique executive who combines strong leadership skills with a savvy business perspective. He is smart, innovative and strategic, and will lead our efforts to extend the Travel Channel brand across multiple media platforms and grow our audience,” O’Neill said in a statement.

Madden has been with Scripps Networks Interactive since 2007, where he has worked across multiple brands in various positions. He most recently served as the general manager and senior vice president of digital for Food Network and Cooking Channel. During his time at Scripps, Madden and his team have built some of the most compelling and popular cross-platform food experiences across the web, mobile and social.

Prior to joining Scripps, Madden worked at Unilever in new product development and at Nabisco as a brand manager. He began his career in digital at theglobe.com as the director of marketing and then moved to AOL, where he led marketing for AOL Search, Moviefone and AOL Music.
