Comcast Extends Amnesty Program

11/14/2005 9:46 AM Eastern

Comcast Corp. said Monday that it has extended its Metropolitan Washington, D.C.-area cable-amnesty program by one week, until Nov. 21.

The initiative, originally scheduled to expire Monday, is allowing anyone receiving unauthorized cable service to turn themselves in and become authorized, paying customers with no questions asked by calling 1-888-COMCAST or online (www.cabletheft.com).

Following the amnesty program, Comcast said it will run a house-by-house electronic audit of its systems to identify cable thieves, and information will be turned over to appropriate authorities for possible prosecution, with possible fines and jail time if convicted.
