Comcast Promotes Joy To SVP

Comcast promoted Aljit Joy to senior vice president of strategy and communications product development, a newly created role in which he will lead the operator's technology planning efforts.

He reports to Tony Werner, Comcast Cable executive vice president and chief technology officer. Joy, in addition to his strategy and technology planning duties, has assumed responsibilities for overseeing technology and product development for Comcast's broadband Internet and phone services.

"Aljit has demonstrated exceptional leadership, and his extensive technical experience will be critical as we look at developing the next generation of products and services," Werner said in a statement. "We're extremely pleased that he has accepted this expanded role within our organization."

Joy, who joined Comcast in 2005, previously was director of strategic planning. Joy received a bachelor's of science degree from Widener University in Pennsylvania and an MBA from F.W. Olin School at Babson College in Massachusetts.
