Powell To Testify on Net Neutrality

National Cable & Telecommunications Association President Michael Powell and CTIA President Meredith Attwell Baker will be among the witnesses at the House Communications Subcommittee hearing Jan, 21 on network neutrality.

Also on the witness list, according to the committee, are Chad Dickerson, CEO of Etsy; Paul Misener, VP of global public policy, for Amazon.com, and Dr. Nicol Turner-Lee, VP, Minority Media & Telecom Council.

The Senate Commerce Committee will also be holding a network neutrality hearing Jan. 21. The House hearing is in the morning, the Senate in the afternoon if the Senate wants to use any of the same witnesses.

Senate Commerce Committee Chair John Thune (D-S.D.) has signaled he will ask non-government types to comment on FCC authority and potential congressional action. He has teamed with House E&C Chair Fred Upton (R-Mich.) on draft legislation they say could protect key Internet values without imposing Title II regulations.
