Alcatel-Lucent Updates Optical Fiber Access Line

Alcatel-Lucent (booth 1757) has unveiled updates to its line of optical fiber access products for the cable industry, including an EPON solution that is based on its 7360 Intelligent Services Access Manager FX platform, which has achieved CableLabs qualification for the 1.0 version of the DOCSIS Provisioning of EPON  (DPoE). Those specs allow MSOs to use DOCSIS-style provisioning for their EPON deployments.

The company said its product also introduces DPoE 2.0 Metro Ethernet Forum services specs, which aim to reduce setup and provisioning times for EPON-based services.

Alcatel-Lucent a;sp has introduced a DPoE 8 port 10G EPON linecard for the 7360 ISAM FX, allowing MSOs to provision and deliver 1 Gigabit per second and higher services.

Currently, the 7360 ISAM FX is being deployed by three North American MSOs, including Bright House Networks, while six ops are conducting trials.
