BellSouth Adds DirecTV8/03/2004 3:56 AM Eastern
BellSouth Corp. said it has begun selling video services from DirecTV Inc. as part of bundled packages to consumers in its nine-state region.
Phone customers can save up to $10 per month by adding DirecTV to their “BellSouth Answers” service, and they can add additional outlets for $4.99 per month.
The phone company is offering various promotional packages in conjunction with DirecTV. For instance, telco customers can get DirecTV digital-video recorders for a $99 one-time fee and receive TiVo Inc.’s DVR service for $4.99 per month. The monthly fee is waived for “Total Choice Premiere” DirecTV customers.
BellSouth is handling sales and ordering functions, while DirecTV will be responsible for installation, billing and ongoing service.
