Dish Gets Sirius

EchoStar Communications Corp.’s Dish Network launched Sirius Satellite Radio Thursday.

Subscribers to Dish's premium packages -- “America's Top 120,” “America’s Top 180” and “America's Everything Pak” -- can now receive Sirius' music channels at no extra charge, while nonpremium Dish subscribers have the option to upgrade.

In addition, Dish retailers nationwide can now offer Dish-branded Sirius transportable receivers. The “DISH SR200” -- which can be installed in a car, truck, boat or RV, or inserted into a portable speaker "boom box" -- will be available at a suggested retail price of $149.95.

“Satellite radio is one of the hottest products, and Sirius has the best programming in this exciting new entertainment category," EchoStar chairman and CEO Charles Ergen said in a prepared statement.

“With over 60 channels of commercial-free music, we believe Sirius has the depth and variety of programming to satisfy our customers,” he added.
