SES Americom Inc.’s “Americom-16” satellite is on track for its Dec. 16 launch.

The bird has been delivered to Cape Canaveral, Fla., for launch preparation.

AMC-16 will support advanced video and broadband services for EchoStar Communications Corp. The “A2100AX” hybrid Ku-band/Ka-band satellite was built by Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems, and it will be launched by International Launch Services.

“AMC-16 is strategic for Americom in that it will enable the next-generation combination of direct-to-home services to be enjoyed by Dish Network subscribers,” SES Americom chairman Romain Bausch said in a prepared statement.

“As we expand our pivotal relationship with EchoStar, our collaboration on the development of advanced video and broadband solutions is clearly aiming at totally integrated, efficient and affordable systems,” he added.
