BigBand Targets Digital-Simulcast Market

3/30/2005 2:16 AM Eastern

BigBand Networks Inc. introduced its new “BRD210 (Broadband Real-Time Decoder)” chassis built for gigabit-Ethernet decoding, as well as the new “GFM103” card for its broadband-multimedia router.

The vendor is eyeing the digital-simulcast market for both products.

The BRD210 was developed with KTech Telecommunications Inc., BigBand said. It receives 1 gigabit per second of Moving Picture Expert Group content over Internet protocol via a module, and it can perform decoding for up to 40 analog-video outputs with single audio, 20 with dual audio, or any combination in between.

The GFM cards occupy one slot in existing BigBand BMRs. Each card can receive 1 gbps of content and perform decoding of up to 48 channels in one “BMR1200” chassis.
