Cisco Writes Memo for Linksys

Cisco Systems Friday hired Greg Memo, formerly a top executive at PC maker Gateway, as vice president and general manager of its Linksys consumer business organization.

Memo will report to J. Michael Pocock, senior VP and GM of Linksys. He will oversee product development, marketing and engineering for Linksys' line of consumer-oriented products, which include routers, switches, gateways, modems, networked entertainment and consumer electronics.

Previously, Memo was Gateway's senior VP of products, marketing and Web. When PC manufacturer eMachines acquired Gateway in 2004, he was in charge of integrating eMachines' products and operations into Gateway.

Memo also has worked in management positions for search engine AltaVista, Compaq and Apple Computer.
