Comcast Business Scores Sports Streaming Deal

Comcast Business and World Series Tournaments have inked a deal to support live streaming of the upcoming PONY World Series at www.ponyworldseries.org, marking the first the event will be delivered via the Internet in the event’s 62-year history.

World Series Tournaments will tap the Comcast unit to stream all games of the ten-team tournament free of charge, starting with the opening game on August 8 at Lew Hays PONY Field in Washington, Pa. Comcast Business, which is covering some of the construction costs, will also provide WiFi service at the venue.

"For the first time, fans of the 2014 World Series teams will have the opportunity to watch live around the world," said Bob Gregg, president of World Tournaments, said in a statement.

 “We look forward to our Comcast Business Internet connection, delivered over our proprietary network, becoming an integral part of the World Series experience both online and for media and fans at the field via our Xfinity WiFi hotspot,” added Dave Dombroski, VP of Comcast Business in the operator’s Keystone Region.

Also on Wednesday, Comcast Business said it landed a deal to supply Internet services and its cloud-based VoiceEdge offering to Elder Construction for its facilities in Colorado Springs and Windsor, Colo.

Comcast’s business unit generated $965 million in the second quarter of 2014, up from $788 million in the year-ago quarter, putting the division on pace for $3.76 billion for all of 2014.
