Concurrent Computer Corp. will combine its video-on-demand expertise with Alcatel’s broadband-access and triple-play solutions under a partnership announced Wednesday.

The two vendors have jointly developed, delivered and are currently marketing a fully scalable, integrated solution for broadband-telecommunications carriers to provide broadcast-television and interactive VOD to video-over-digital-subscriber-line customers worldwide.

Concurrent and Alcatel will debut their combined solution at the International Broadcasting Convention in Amsterdam, Netherlands, Thursday-Tuesday.

“Through the synergy of Concurrent's strength in VOD and Alcatel's strength in DSL applications, we expect to define an industry-leading, integrated video-over-DSL solution for the broadband IP [Internet protocol] market,” Concurrent CEO Gary Trimm said in a prepared statement.

Added Alan Mottram, president of Alcatel's fixed-solutions activities, “Concurrent strengthens our capability to provide larger-scale end-to-end IPTV solutions for our customers, and we look forward to helping our customers grow their business in an increasingly competitive broadband-IP marketplace.”
