GFC Buys Winsett Simmonds, ACS

General Fiber Communications Inc. continued its shopping spree.

The provider of technical-fulfillment and construction services for the broadband industry announced its eighth and ninth acquisitions of the year Tuesday: Winsett Simmonds Inc. and Advanced Communications Services Inc.

The Winsett Simmonds acquisition bolsters GFC’s existing presence in the Southeast by providing facilities in Memphis, Tenn., and Little Rock, Ark., while the ACS acquisition provides GFC with a foothold in Milwaukee.

In addition to the acquisitions, GFC plans to expand its Midwest operations by 50% during the next quarter, the company said.

“As the largest fulfillment provider in the cable industry, GFC is well-equipped to meet the increasing demand among MSOs for installation and construction services across the country,” executive vice president of business development Joe McGinley said in a prepared statement.
