Intellon Inc., the manufacturer of circuits for high-speed power-line networking, has raised $23.5 million in a new funding round led by Comcast Interactive Capital Group, EnerTech Capital Partners and Liberty Associated Partners LP.

Intellon said the HomePlug Powerline Alliance has selected its technology for the HomePlug 1.0 standard. The vendor is currently shipping chip sets that enable data-speed transfers of up to 14 megabits per second.

The money will be funneled into Intellon’s new "PowerAV" chip sets, which can enable speeds up to 100 mbps, allowing for the transfer of such formats as HDTV video within a HomePlug network.
