Moloney Chips In At Lantiq

Maintaining his presence in broadband circles after stepping down as president of Motorola Mobility in 2012, Dan Moloney has joined the board of privately-held chipmaker Lantiq.

Focused on broadband networks and the digital home, Germany-based Lantiq develops system-on-chips for a variety of wired and wireless platforms, including DSL, Wi-Fi, FTTx, Gigabit Ethernet and Long Term Evolution.

“Lantiq is an incredibly interesting company that is well positioned as a leading semiconductor player in the expanding broadband communications industry,” Moloney said in a statement. “The company has tremendous potential and I look forward to helping increase its global footprint and drive continued profitable growth."

Moloney left Motorola Mobility in after it was acquired by Google, which then proceeded to sell the cable-focused Motorola Home unit last April to Arris Group for $2.35 billion.

Moloney has remained active ever since, becoming an executive partner at Siris Capital, joining the board of TiVo, and becoming an executive advisor to Gainspeed, a startup that’s developing a next-gen access platform targeted to the cable industry.
