Motorola Opens Gate for New Gateways

3/07/2005 7:34 AM Eastern

Motorola Inc. introduced a new family of plug-and-play gateways for voice-over-Internet-protocol service Monday.

The vendor said its new “VT2000 Series Voice Gateways” power two lines of telephony service through a home using a cable or digital-subscriber-line connection and an existing VoIP service.

Motorola added that the gateways support services including caller ID, call waiting and three-way calling, and they are interoperable with networks that support the Session Initiation Protocol standard for Internet telephony.

The three models in the VT2000 series are: the “VT2000,” which adds voice services to an existing home network; the “VT2400,” which incorporates the features of the VT2000 and adds a four-port home-network router for wired peripherals, such as printers or gaming consoles; and the “VT2500,” an all-in-one solution for connecting telephones, computers, laptops and other devise to a home broadband connection.
