Motorola Inc. said NBC Universal Cable will deploy its “DigiCipher II” video-compression encoders, access control and integrated receiver/decoders for the analog-to-digital transition of CNBC, MSNBC, ShopNBC, Bravo and Telemundo.

Motorola also announced that Advanced Digital Broadcast signed a “MediaCipher” licensing agreement for its conditional-access technology.

The company also made two pre-Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers Cable-Tec Expo announcements, including a new spectrum-management module for its “BSR 64000” cable-modem-termination system. The module allows operators to adopt Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification 2.0 while improving the performance of DOCSIS 1.0 and 1.1 cable modems.

And Motorola introduced a multiservice-wavelength-transport Ethernet-aggregation system capable of 10-gigabit performance.
