Penthera Exec Elected To Board

Penthera, a firm focused on portable video software for programmers and distributors, said it has elected Melani Griffith to its board.

Griffith currently serves as Penthera’s executive vice president of business development. An 18-year cable industry vet, she spent seven of them heading programming and video product management at Insight Communications, the MSO that is now part of Time Warner Cable and formerly run by current Penthera president and CEO Michael Willner. During her career, Griffith also ran the eastern division for affiliate sales at AMC Networks, and was an account acec in ad sales for Fox Cable Networks.

“Melani’s energy, industry knowledge and strategic thinking will be a welcome addition to our board,” Willner said, in a statement. “At Insight, she was responsible for managing our video product and negotiating the deals with our programming partners. Her career has given her deep understanding into distributor, programmer and advertiser issues.  She will be an invaluable member of our board.”

Penthera has developed a software engine that ports video securely to mobile devices. It’s believed to be one of the vendors supporting the video download feature for Comcast’s TV Go TV Everywhere app that allows offline viewing.
