Redback, Orca Team Up on IPTV

Redback Networks Inc. and Orca Interactive Wednesday announced a partnership for enabling personalized broadcast television or video-on-demand services over broadband networks.

Redback is a provider of next-generation broadband-networking systems, and Orca, an Emblaze Group company, develops applications for TV over Internet protocol.

The two vendors will integrate communication between Redback's “NetOp” policy manager and Orca’s “RiGHTv” middleware applications for video services.

“We are pleased to combine our market-leading expertise in video-services middleware with Redback's third generation of broadband-subscriber management and edge routing for solutions that deliver consumers choices in quality, cost and immediacy,” Orca vice president of marketing and business development Yosi Glick said in a prepared statement.

Redback VP of marketing and business development Shailesh Shukla added, “Together [with Orca], we believe we can set a new standard for delivering video over broadband with new levels of quality, personalization and price for the consumer and new potential for incremental revenue for service providers.”
