SCTE Adds Three DPI Standards Projects

The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers plans to tackle three new standardization projects related to digital-program-insertion standards.

The new standards are modeled on the core DVS 380 and DVS 253 standards first developed by Cable Television Laboratories Inc. and approved later by SCTE.
The DVS 629 standard will create a method for communication between an advertising selection system and equipment that delivers content to the consumer.
DVS 630 will define information that must be passed from an operator’s traffic system to an ad insertion system for schedules.
And DVS 631 defines information that must be passed from a network to an operator’s traffic system for communication of a broadcast schedule including program identifiers.
