The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers said Friday that its “SCTE 90-1” OpenCable Application Platform (OCAP) standard was approved by the American National Standards Institute.
OCAP is a key element of two-way interactive cable devices and a requirement for Cable Television Laboratories Inc.’s OpenCable specification.
“ANSI’s approval of OCAP provides an additional indication to the cable, programming and manufacturing industries that OCAP is the accepted, stable standard for interactive cable devices,” CableLabs CEO Richard Green said in a prepared statement.
