SCTE Opens Cable-Tec Expo Registrations

The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers said it has opened up registrations for Cable-Tec Expo 2014, and is offering discounts to showgoers who sign on before June 20.

The annual cable tech-fest is scheduled to run September 22-25 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.

SCTE is offering the early-bird discount to members and non-members, noting that non-members who join SCTE for $68 are immediately eligible for the member advantage discount.

According to the SCTE’s pricing schedule for Cable-Tec Expo, the early-bird rate through June 20 for the full conference is $795 for SCTE members and $955 for non-members. Under the pre-registration window (June 21 – September 8), those prices rise to $845 and $1,025, respectively, while on-site registrations for the full conference sell for $950 and $1,175. SCTE also offers different rates for two days of the conference, or floor passes that limit access to the event’s exhibition hall.

Last year’s event in Atlanta drew about 9,800 people, a 6% increase from the 2012 show in Orlando.

Of recent note, the SCTE is looking to beef up training tools and education programs while also expanding its members through a new Corporate Alliance Program, with Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Suddenlink Communications signing on as the initiative’s charter members.

SCTE, which has just under 17,000 members now, believes it is already in position to add between 15,000 to 20,000 new members by the end of its current fiscal year, which ends, in June.
