Study: DVR Awareness Up, Purchases Flat1/25/2005 5:50 AM Eastern
According to a recent survey by Ipsos-Insight, 77% of Americans are aware of digital-video recorders, a significant jump from 70% in 2004.
However, "Although awareness is up, the likelihood of consumers to purchase a DVR remains relatively flat," Ipsos-Insight’s Lynne Bartos said in a prepared statement.
She added that 8% of Americans are likely or very likely to purchase a DVR in the next 12 months, consistent with last year's results, which showed purchase intent of 9%.
"Cable- and satellite-service providers have a real opportunity to reach intenders who do not want to deal with the perceived hassle of installing DVRs," Bartos said.
