‘Symposium’ To Focus On DOCSIS 3.1, Wireless

An in-depth education on wireless services and DOCSIS 3.1 will lead the the agenda at the a full-day “Symposium” the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) and CableLabs will host on Monday, September 22, in conjunction with SCTE Cable-Tec Expo in Denver.

The pre-show event, scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mountain Time at Denver’s Colorado Convention Center, will feature four sessions each on those topics.

Morning sessions will address carrier grade Wi-Fi; Wi-Fi analytics, cloud and radio resource management; community Wi-Fi; and Wi-Fi antenna design and surveying. The four afternoon DOCSIS 3.1 sessions will include a status report on D3.1, which envision bandwidth opportunities for the emerging multi-gigabit data platform; DOCSIS 3.1 profiles—customizing bandwidth; and operational integration and proactive network maintenance.

SCTE said speakers for the symposium will be announced later. According to the SCTE, the stand-alone registration rate for the symposium runs $270 for SCTE members and $375 for non-members through September 8, and rises to $390 and $500, respectively, thereafter.

SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2014 is scheduled for Monday through Thursday, Sept. 22-25.
