Terayon Communication Systems Inc. debuted its new MPEG-4/AVC (Moving Picture Expert Group/Advanced Video Coding) ad-insertion and splicing system at the International Broadcasting Convention in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The company said its “DM 6400 Network CherryPicker” will support MPEG-4/AVC. It also enables standards-based digital-program insertion and splicing of programming in MPEG-4/AVC.

Terayon also said it created a partnership with INIVIDI to provide state-of-the-art localization on-demand.

The architecture allows a single piece of content to be distributed nationwide, but localized for cable-system use. A national ad for a car dealer could include local car-dealer graphical information, overlaid at the last second in the local market.

And Modulus Video Inc. debuted its new “ME6000” HD MPEG-4/AVC encoding platform. It also said it expanded the capabilities of its compression-system manager.
