Verizon Pitches LTE/FiOS Service Bundle Discounts

‘Double Up’ Campaign Cuts $20 Off Monthly Service For Two Years 3/07/2014 6:21 PM Eastern

Looking to instill loyalty among existing subs while trying to lure new customers to its wireless and wireline service mix, Verizon Communications on Friday launched a “Double Up” promo that doles out monthly $20 discounts to subs who take both FiOS and Verizon Wireless services.

The promo, targeted to subs on the FiOS Quantum triple-play (with broadband service of 50 Mbps or higher) who also take a Verizon Wireless LTE service with at least one smartphone, are in line for those monthly discounts ($10 off their wireless bill, and $10 off their FiOS bill) over two years, meaning they’ll save a total of $480 during that span.

Verizon is offering the promo to new and existing customers – with or without a contract -- through April 19.

Verizon is making the pitch as it continues to add FiOS subscribers, but at slower rates. It added 126,000 net new FiOS Internet connections and 92,000 new FiOS video subs in the fourth quarter of 2013, down from the 144,000 FiOS Internet customer and 134,000 FiOS video subs added in the year-ago quarter. Verizon ended 2013 with 6.1 million FiOS Internet and 5.3 million FiOS video subs.

Last month, Verizon introduced a subscriber acquisition campaign that offers two-year price guarantees to new FiOS subs through April 19. Verizon spelled out both no-contract options as well as packages that  come with two-year agreements.
