Vonage, VTech Go Cordless

Vonage Holdings Corp. and VTech Communications Inc. are cutting the cord.

The voice-over-Internet-protocol provider said Wednesday that VTech’s “IP-8100-2” cordless-broadband-phone system, configured with Vonage's VoIP service, will be available at more than 8,000 retailers Sunday.

Vonage added that the IP-8100-2 is configured with Texas Instruments Inc.’s “TNETV1060” VoIP chip set. The phone has a retail price of $149.99, with a $50 mail-in rebate after 60 days.

“Vonage's service, coupled with VTech's great design and retail strength, makes this a strong partnership for two companies who share the same customer-service vision of quality and ease of use,” Vonage chairman and CEO Jeffrey A. Citron said in a prepared statement.
