Wheeler, Levin to Talk Broadband at Brookings

Plan Architect, Chief Builder to Hold Moderated Discussion June 26 6/23/2015 11:30 AM Eastern

WASHINGTON -- Blair Levin, the chief architect of the Federal Communications Commission's National Broadband Plan, and agency chairman Tom Wheeler, who is building from that blueprint, will be getting together June 26 to talk about maximizing broadband's benefits.

Levin, who was tapped by former FCC chairman Julius Genachowski to oversee the broadband plan, has since been working toward getting high-speed broadband to schools and universities. Levin is executive director of Gig.U, a consortium of research universities/communities looking to boost economic development and research by promoting high-speed broadband.

Wheeler will give keynote remarks, followed by a discussion moderated by Levin, who is a nonresident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, where the event will take place.
