Trump Tweets: 'Hateful' Media Must 'Clean Up Their Act'

President Donald Trump has doubled down on blaming the media for much of the anger in society. That came in a tweet Thursday (Oct. 25) following up on his similar claim at a rally the night before.

It also came after numerous pipe bombs were sent to prominent Democratic, and other, critics of the President, including one in care of CNN, which Trump has called fake news and one of the journalistic "enemies of the people."

The President was in "fake news" tweeting mode Thursday (Oct. 25), saying the New York Times had a "Fake Story" about his cellphone use, which he called "just more made up Fake News."

But before that he tweeted more to the issue of the societal anger that some were blaming for the pipe bombs--a cause or culprit have yet to be identified--the list of those targeted with the bombs growing with the addition of former VP Joe Biden and harsh Trump critic Robert de Niro.

The President tweeted:

The President has repudiated the pipe bomb attacks and said there is no excuse for politically motivated violence, but he has not appeared to tone down his anti-press rhetoric in the wake of that statement and before the attack praised a legislator who had body slammed a reporter.

Radio Television Digital News Association executive director Dan Shelly this week advised journalists to continue call out the President and his supporters on harsh rhetoric "aimed at further dividing our country and inflaming hateful ideologies."
