HBO's 'Veep' Wins Cable's First Emmys

HBO’s political comedy series Veep won the first Emmy Awards for cable industry during the Emmy’s primetime telecast Sunday night.

Veep's  show’s writers Simon Blackwell, Armando Iannucci and Tony Roche beat out writers from Amazon’s Transparent, Fox’s The Last Man On Earth; HBO’s Silicon Valley; FX’s Louie and Showtime’s Episodes to take the statuette, while Veep's actor Tony Hale  beat out Keegan-Michael Kay (Comedy Central’s Key & Peele) Ty Burell (ABC’s Modern Family);  Andre Braugher (Fox’ Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Adam Driver (HBO’s Girls) and Tituss Burgess (Netflix’ Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.)
