HBO has signed a five-year renewal of a services contract with Clearleap, which will continue to process and distribute multiple formats of the premium network's subscription video-on-demand programming -- including content for HBO’s TV Everywhere service -- to U.S. pay TV operators.
HBO has been using Atlanta-based Clearleap’s services since 2011. Clearleap encodes VOD programming and delivers it over a terrestrial IP network to the programmer’s cable, satellite and telco TV distribution partners. Clearleap also handles user authentication for HBO Go on behalf of several operators.
”We are pleased to continue our partnership with Clearleap,” Diane Tryneski, HBO executive vice president of media and production operations, said in a statement. “Their solution meets our high security and quality requirements for the processing and delivery of HBO content.”
Clearleap ingests HD files from programming providers and provides processing capabilities including managing metadata that travels with the file, inserting watermarks for viewership tracking and converting audio to Dolby 5.1 format. The company operates what it claims is the most extensive terrestrial IP distribution network for television content in the U.S.
