Verizon Tees Up Fall VOD Binge-Fest

Verizon Communications has teed up another Fall run for its annual Free On  Demand Marathon, announcing that it's upcoming promo will go a full ten days – from September 19-29.

The fall VOD tilt, designed to help customers binge on and catch-up on TV shows ahead of the fall season, will offer more than 70 TV series as well as access to 2,300 movies) in partnership with 60 networks, including premium programmers HBO, Cinemax, Epix and Starz.

Verizon noted that the marathon will highlight premium services from September 19-22, and then emphasis fall TV premieres starting September 23. In addition to set-top VOD, the marathon will also feature access on mobile devices via the FiOS Mobile App.

Verizon hoped to build on the usage it generated during its spring marathon, which saw participation from 29% of FiOS homes, up from 15% from the similar VOD promo it ran in May 2013, according to the telco.

Verizon said its past three free VOD marathons have generated nearly 22 million transactions from more than 3.6 million unique users. “[T] fall’s marathon is expected to maintain that pace,” the company said.

“Marathons give Verizon the opportunity to do two things – thank our FiOS customers for their loyalty and remind them that the FiOS On Demand platform offers a wide variety of entertainment options every day, with great value built in,” said Eric Velez, director of FiOS TV content strategy and acquisition, in a statement.
