After adding Cox Communications distribution, the programmer of the Mag Rack video-on-demand service said it is interested in launching a full-time fitness channel.

Mag Rack fitness and yoga programming is now available for free to Cox Advanced TV subscribers, the cable company and the programmer said. Video titles range from Pilates and cardio workouts to kick-boxing and dance-based exercises.

"We are proud to enhance the value of our on-demand experience with the addition of Mag Rack Fitness," Bob Nocera, director of new video services at Cox Communications, said in a release. "This new content helps Cox customers to better maximize their time, balance their busy schedules, and support their health and wellness life goals."

"People are so busy that fitness sometimes takes a back seat," Joe Covey, CEO of Mag Rack, said in the release. "Mag Rack is committed to providing viewers with quality exercise programming on demand so we can incorporate fitness into our lives whenever we want it."

Covey told Multichannel News that Interactivation, which owns Mag Rack and two in-hospital TV channels, considers the Cox launch a step toward launching a linear fitness channel. He said views of Mag Rack exercise programs have increased since VOD service Exercise TV closed down last November.

Mag Rack programming is in 38 million multichannel video homes, according to the company.
